Edward Callaghan Music Scholarship Winner

The North American Feis Commission Under 15 Edward Callaghan Music Scholarship Competition held at the Golden Horseshoe Feis on June 15, 2019 was won by Brianna Cobbey.  Congratulations Brianna!

 

 

 

 

RULE CHANGE

The Mid-America Teachers voted on January 5, 2019 to remove the Bling Rule for younger dancers in the Region. 
Effective immediately, all dancers may now wear bling in all age groups.
 

Martin McHugh Scholarship
 
The Winner of the 2019 Marty McHugh Scholarship is Kelly Bench. Kelly has danced for the Bell School of Irish Dance for the last 13 years. Kelly has been an integral part of the Pittsburgh Feisanna as the National Anthems Singer.  She is a Senior at Seton-La Salle HS where she was the Drum Major.  Kelly also served as Eucharistic Minister and Lector at SLS HS. Kelly was in SLS's competitive acapella singing group "The Trebles", on the La Cross Team, in the schools Musicals and Dramas over the last 4 years, and was an Altar Server at her local church. Kelly is heading to Penn State in the fall where she will continue her Irish Dancing with the Penn State Irish Dance Team, "Rince Na Leon". Congratulations Kelly!

Irish Traditional Music Sessions are mostly gatherings at which people play Irish traditional music. 

The Irish language word for "session" is seisiún
